If your iPod suddenly stops, there are a lot of ways for you to solve it. First of all, you should always know how to unfreeze an iPod. Nowadays, almost anyone can do it. Unfreezing an iPod is not rocket science. All you need to know is on how your iPod works and the ways to reset it. However, before you do that you need to remember a couple of things first. The first thing you need to know what type of iPod you have. There is a specific way to unfreeze each type of iPod and you need to know which one you have. A thing that you need to keep in mind is the reason for it to freeze. It might be due to the battery or some of the parts are broken so even if you unfreeze it, it will still freeze from time to time. If you are using an iPod with a tweaked Operating System you need to troubleshoot it for any problems and you need to know the hassles of having a jailbreaked device.


Before you start unfreezing your iPod, check the basics of your device. Check the type of device you have. You can look on the box in order to know if there is its name. If it does not have a box then you can look for it in the net. Type in iPod in your browser and then move to the picture settings, then click the type of iPod you have and then look for its name. Once you have its name then you check if it is fully charged. Plug the device to your computer’s USB port or through a socket. Once your device is fully charged then you can start unfreezing it.

Once you know its name you need to download the type of file applicable for your device. You also need to download a program called iTunes. iTunes can virtually connect through any kind of Apple device. All you have to do is to install it in your computer. Actually, using iTunes is the first way in dealing with a frozen device. If you already have a backup of your files then you can simply reformat your iPod with the use of iTunes. Once you reformat the device it will go back to normal. However, if you do not want to delete your files then you only need to unfreeze it manually.

In order to rest your iPod touch, you simply need to press the sleep/wake button together with the Home button. Remember to press them at the same time until a small logo of Apple appears. Once you do that wait for a couple of minutes then check if it is unfrozen. Also, check if your files are still there or if there is a problem with the battery. If it does not work then you can actually reset it again.

If you are using an iPod Classic then you only need to hold the switch and then the on and off button. The first thing you need to do is to slide the switch to hold and then switch the device off. After you have finished pressing the button, hold the menu key and then the select button until the Apple logo shows up. Usually, it will take a couple of minutes for the button to show up so you need to wait a while. If you are still having problems then you can just put the device on a flat surface and then press the buttons. Wait for at least 5 seconds for the Apple logo to show up. Again, if it does not work then you can use iTunes to troubleshoot your device.

For the iPod Nano, all its versions have the same resetting protocols. All you have to do is to toggle the hold Select switch and also the Menu button. Remember to press the hold switch first before you press the Menu and Select button. Wait for 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears and then release. For the shuffle, all you have to do is to press the switch to its off position and wait.


Reasons for Freezing


There are a lot of reasons as to why your iPod device suddenly stops from functioning. It might be due to a bad battery or problems with the hard drive. You might not be using it for a long time and you have not been using your iTunes. Nowadays, the main reason as to why most devices stop is due to a problem with the Operating System. iPod Touch and iPhones actually can use illegal Operating Systems which were not sanctioned by the Apple company. Such Operating Systems can actually freeze the device if they are used regularly. Remember to check the programs and Operating Systems that you are using with your device. Such programs will definitely void your warranty so be sure to be careful.
